Peirce, Lincoln. Big Nate: The Crowd Goes Wild

This collection of previously published comic strips differs from the Big Nate notebook novels of which my students are so fond. All of the panels are done in full color, and while there are some story arcs, most of the strips just cover whatever topic is being discussed for the day. There is a little development (Artur returns; he and Jenny are still a couple) in the characters and plot, but generally this is just for fun. This includes my favorite strip, where Nate is asking his science teacher what experiments they are going to do because of the very gross stuff on his desk... and of course, it's the teacher's lunch!
I still prefer the novels, since I think that they do a great job at capturing the spirit of middle schoolers who WANT to do the right thing and just can't seem to manage it, but of course my students prefer the cartoons!
