Perrin, Clotilde. At the Same Moment Around the World.

I loved the cover of this book, with the events occurring around the world on it! Starting at 6:00 a.m. in Senegal, we go around the world hour-by-hour, which is actually at the same time. We get very brief glimpses of local culture-- Ravshan and Yuliya ride a horse to market in Uzbekistan, Lilu eats lunch on a Himalayan mountain, Keiko sees carp streamers in Japan, and Ana sees a snake in a tree in the Amazon Rain Forest at 2:00 a.m. At the back of the book, there is a fold out map that shows where each of the countries and people would be, and there is even a brief bit of information about time and time keeping through history. Small children will take repeated exposures to this to understand how it can be both noon and midnight in the world at the same time, but this book is a good way to introduce the concept.
This brought to mind the around the world New Year's celebrations in 1999/200. My daughter was 6, and would have benefited from this book!
