Tripping at the Starting Line

Mother Reader is hosting her fabulous 48 Hour Book Challenge. I have stacks of books in my TBR pile, laundry done, and plan to order Chinese takeout instead of trying to feed children this weekend.

However, I don't feel a lot like reading. I finished boxing up all the books for the library renovation after finding out that I also have to move everything from the back room... and that the final plans are not quite to my liking, but there is nothing to be done. Least said the better.

I've worked way too hard this week, I'm exhausted, and just have lost my will to read. Sometimes that happens. Things will look better after a good night's sleep.

  2. I always feel that if I "have" to read something, it's not fun anymore. No, I didn't enjoy school. I've finished all my school visits (except the 50 kindergarteners coming next week, but that's different) and I plan to spend the weekend re-reading old mysteries. Oh, and working. Gotta remember I'm working Saturday. And I have a "please be nice to all the little kiddies this summer" pie to bake.

  3. Hopefully some sleep will get you motivated. And if you're still not in the mood to read, at least still get the Chinese food!
I love the focus of this blog. I have a middle school boy who is actually a voracious reader, and we're always looking for suggestions.

I know the book moving can be exhausting - I hope the sleep revives you!

    Good luck!

  6. That's too bad. I hope things look brighter tomorrow. I'm bogged down at the moment myself, after 3 books. Happens in every kind of marathon, I guess.

  7. The whole point of the challenge is to be fun...and an excuse to blow off other stuff in order to read. :)

Have a fun weekend regardless of what you end up doing!

  9. Oh, what a pity! The juicy stacks of books, clean laundry, takeout -- all sounds so good. Hope you get the good night's sleep so can enjoy it.

  10. I hope things did look better after a good night's sleep. I know how it goes when one is just wiped out. For me, I've felt like reading, but don't feel like writing the reviews. Hoping that kicks in tonight.

  11. Yes,they will look a lot better after snooze time. I started at 7 this morning but have had many interruptions--bad new on a phone call, meals, cleaning up for a party tonight. Good thing for this audiobook! Bad weekend for a party, you say? Well, no, this actually very good. My former coworker Bill got laid off in April and found a job in Robeson County, NC. Starts on June 14, first day of summer reading. We're holding a congrats/farewell party. As well as a Bad Sci-fi Movie Night. So dont feel bad if you can't read megahours this weekend. I can't either and will do well to meet my goal of 12 hours. Good luck to you!

  12. Sorry to hear you won't be joining us. But I get it about sometimes just not wanting to read. Hope things look up soon. In the meantime--hey, Chinese takeout!

  13. I hope things are looking up, reading wise! Sounds like you have good reason to be sick of the sight of books!
