I have to admit that I don't quite understand podcasts, but that's because I don't have a smart phone. This runs 6:30, so maybe people can listen while they are washing dinner dishes! Since I've been blogging for almost ten years, I thought it was time to try something new. Let me know what you think.

  1. I was able to download the podcast and listen to it in itunes on my computer. Great job! It was also nice to have a list of the books on your blog to reference. I'm glad you took the chance at trying a podcast. It provides a good balance to your written recommendations. More please!

  2. It was easy to get the podcast Karen, & I enjoyed it thoroughly. I opened Amazon so I could add books I wanted to remember to my wishlist there, and I added quite a few. I liked hearing about Shadow on The Mountain because the tenth mountain division trained here in Colorado & I've been to see where they were. I'll find that book for sure. I loved The Boys Who Challenged Hitler, and just received Salt To The Sea from NetGalley, can't wait to read it. Thanks for the list too. Great start to your 'card catalog'!

  4. Congrats on your first podcast! this is a great list of books around WWII. I ended up reading to WWII stories this week. One was Shadow on the Mountain (on your list), which I loved. I also loved Shelley Pearsall's Jump in the Sky, which included the Triple Nickels, the first all-black paratrooper unit.

  5. Inquiring minds want to know...how did you make your podcast? I love that it's in Google Drive. Did you record in Google, or just save it there. Do tell. (please and thanks!)

  8. Hi there Ms Yingling - while I do encourage my higher-degree students to explore other assessment options such as doing podcasts and the like, I haven't really taken to those myself. I think I should. Thing is, I am really more of a visual than an auditory learner - I have issues with audiobooks as well, but still, worth a try. Great to see this list that you have gathered here.

  9. Well, I couldn't open it, not on Vloud Convert or something called Music Player for Google Drive. The message I got from Cloud Convert was "Could not upload to Google Drive: Insufficient permissions for the specified parent." May need to enlist the help of a junior member of the family...

  12. This was pretty cool Karen! It was so interesting to hear your voice. I really appreciated having the list to refer to as I listened so I could add titles to goodreads. If I have any complaints it is because while listening it is hard to pause and search for more information on the title you mention! (I can't wait to listen to more)
