Now I want to go home and make 1-2-3 Fudge Sauce!

And I love this cover of Betty Crocker's New Boys and Girls Cookbook: even back in 1974, boys could cook!

  1. Even way before 1974. I'm sure some caveman figured out that his mastodon chops tasted better if he put it over the fire.

My family had the Betty Crocker cookbook shown above. My mom still has it on her shelf, though pages are falling out. I know because I looked up my favorite recipe in it last year. I don't know if either of my two older brothers ever used it, but they are both better cooks than their wives. :)

  4. Cookbooks go in and out of popularity in my media centers. I like to read them too but seldom actually try the recipes. Here's my week. Happy reading!

  5. What a yummy list of books! I loved Joan Bauer's Close to Famous. She has an earlier book, set in a diner--Hope Was Here--that would fit in well, too. Most of the rest of these are new to me. Have you read Cake Pop Crush by Suzanne Nelson? It's another book centered on baking--complete with recipes in the back.

  6. National Cookie Baking Day?!?! It's funny that I have a batch of cookies in the oven as I type this, obviously this is my kind of holiday. ;) I love the boy on the cover of that Betty Crocker cookbook, he's so proud of his creation, and totally rocking that apron! Thanks for sharing!

  9. So many students love cook books! I can see them branching out to food themed titles as they progress in their reading!

  10. What a lovely list! I shall bookmark this so I can refer to this soon. I am thinking of joining BookRiot's Read Harder challenge and there's a category that says food memoir - this just might be it!
