Lookee!
Had interesting first day of school. When I announced at the faculty meeting that I was going to have "Be your own super hero" as my slogan this year, I did not mean to imply I had ACTUAL super powers. But apparently I do. The study hall with 80 6th graders was... invigorating.
When I got home, I had an ENORMOUS box of Goodness from MG at Young Adults Books Central. What a nice thing to have when I got home! I'm especially looking forward to Couglin's One Shot Away, and am interested in the R.L. Salvatore YA books.
A mini reading marathon might be in order this weekend. Who needs groceries and clean clothes, right?
And... the Cybils are taking applications for volunteers for 2012. They are due by August 31, so hop over if you want to be part of this awesome experience!
Wow! What a nice bunch of books! And I'll just bet a study hall of 80 sixth graders in invigorating. Because of music (long story) my sixth grade classes will be of very uneven sizes this year. Two groups of 32 and two groups of 14. I'm currently baffled about how I am going to have the two groups end up with the same skills at the end of the semester unless I set a really low level for the skills. I have 2 weeks to figure it out before they walk in the doors. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI like your motto. I might steal it.
ReplyDeleteMy first day was a library meeting yesterday. More meetings today. More meetings next week. Kids the week after that.
It's more fun with the kids. Most of the time. ;]
Take care of yourself!
What a great present to receive your first day back at school! I hope you have a super hero sort of year.
