In the beginning of my teaching career I taught in a school where 75% of my students had only lived in a one parent family. Of the rest, only two were still living with both parents and the rest were in blended families. It made for interesting social dynamics to say the least. I think she'd be very popular with my college students, but I haven't read enough to be able to intelligently book talk.Elisabeth Ellingtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00747914394861199796noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22559214.post-44157548420343312332018-07-23T18:27:03.143-04:002018-07-23T18:27:03.143-04:00I am always on the lookout for books that deal wit...I am always on the lookout for books that deal with divorce in different ways. It is so common in our society and kids need to be able to find a book that resonates with them. This book sounds excellent.<br />Learned something new about the Spanish Flu epidemic. I certainly had students reading lots of Sarah Albee's book, so perhaps this would be another. Thanks for sharing See You On A Starry Night, too. I imagine it will be helpful and good for many. That cover is so attractive, even if I'm not supposed to judge a book by its cover. ;) But now I'm also curious about the story. I agree that many children from divorced families only live with one parent (and sometimes wish they could see their other parent more often). When we moved to this small, secluded community, I found it interesting that parents would often divorce (or just not marry to begin with) and yet stay here so they could frequently see their children. Those kiddos are lucky to have the opportunity to grow up spending equal times both parents. But this tight-knit community is very unusual -- not the norm at all.
