I like what you said about what constitutes MG. I have sensitive kids, so I'm careful about the violence in the books they read. I like how you think about your school's message in what you hand to kids.Jennihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13139361928785566916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22559214.post-56895874285923843582014-10-27T09:28:26.416-04:002014-10-27T09:28:26.416-04:00I agree with your comments about MG books. Parents are looking for good books for their children that may have older characters, but also don't cross the line with language and sex.Greg Pattridgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05761872776035591138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22559214.post-48515306002973392642014-10-26T21:21:15.531-04:002014-10-26T21:21:15.531-04:00Have you read In Darkness by Nick Lake? I don't remember any language in it (at least none that stuck out, I guess there could have been some swearing in French) and there wasn't any sex (an aid worker gets pregnant, but there isn't any discussion about how it happened, only who the father is). It is definitely sad at times and deals with some very difficult social issues, but I would say appropriate for middle school. Maybe check that out for a middle grade Haitian earthquake novel?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13238956617558195968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22559214.post-32954328677563055402014-10-26T20:23:04.101-04:002014-10-26T20:23:04.101-04:00I thought of a MG Haitian earthquake one for you! ...I thought of a MG Haitian earthquake one for you!
