We recently acquired a hamster and he has greatly enlarged the preschoolers' vocabulary. Probably the only 3 year olds in town who can say "nocturnal" are library patrons. On Wednesday I had coffee with a dear friend and she talked about the impact of the loss of her dog still has on her.
