48 Hour Book Challenge Prize Packages

Not having done this before, I'm not entirely sure how to award packages. I do know that prizes have never really motivated me, and I do want books to go where they are wanted and used. My thinking currently is that I may give winners a choice of packages, so people get the books they really want!

MotherReader used three categories of participation, that being up to 23 hours, up to 35 hours, and up to 48 hours. The wonderful Carol Rasco of Reading is Fundamental has once again graciously offered our winners RIF's Celebrations collections to be donated to a school or non-profit of the recipients choice. Other prizes will include:

From the absolutely awesome Kelly Celia at Walden Pond Press, we have five great prizes:

Set of Hero’s Guide – one paperback of Saving the Kingdom and one hardcover of Storming the Castle
One Sets of The Fourth Stall – paperback of The Fourth Stall and The Fourth Stall Part II, hardcover of The Fourth Stall Part III
One set of The Archer Legacy series – paperbacks of The Billionaire’s Curse, The Emerald Casket, and The Mask of Destiny
Copy of Platypus Police Squad by Jarrett Krosoczka
Copy of The Girl from Felony Bay

From Barbara Fisch at Blue Slip Media

ARC for SIRENS by Janet Fox
Finished copy of LIVES, KNIVES, AND GIRLS IN RED DRESSES by Ron Koertge
Finished copy of SASS AND SERENDIPITY by Jennifer Ziegler
ARC for BEYOND LUCKY by Sarah Aronson

From Albert Whitman Publishing, we have Jennifer Angus' In Search of Goliath Hercules.

From author Jennifer Rush, we have a signed copy of Bot Wars.

From author Sarah Jamila Stevenson, a copy of Underneath, which comes out 8 June!

From Penguin and Klutz Books, two packages:

·         Shelter by Harlan Coben (Penguin)
·         Seconds Away by Harlan Coben (Penguin)
and
·         The Klutz Book of Knots
·         The Encyclopedia of Immaturity (Klutz)
·         Klutz Coin Blaster Arcade

Wonderfulness yet to be determined is being donated by Random House, Big Honcho Media and Egmont USA.

Quirk Books is donating a set of Tales from Lovecraft Middle School and also a set of baking books!

The majority of these books are on my want list and I would love a chance to win a package.
However I'm a bit confused on how to proceed. Do we just leave a comment? what do we do?

  4. I liked winning single books (I discovered a few authors that way), but since one of the joys of the challenge is clearly through my TBR pile, the big boxes are a bit daunting as a prize. The idea of a choice is great, and my library would be thrilled to win most of them; I usually donate to our school library as my charity anyway, so adding some books to the pile is a bonus.

Like you, the prizes aren't the motivator, although it was thrilling when my name showed up in the post.

    Hello!

I've read about this challenge a few times now, over a few different years, but I've never participated. I finally started a blog this January, however, and I finally, for the first time in my adult life, have weekends off - so I'm all ready to rock the challenge's socks off! I'm confused about how to do that, though. Are there instructions somewhere? How do I sign-up? Is it too late to do so?

    Thanks!

  7. So this is a very specific, strange question but here goes:

I won "Bot Wars" in the Challenge in 2013. It came with VERY fancy packaging. One of the packaging items was this little paper pocket, kind of like what they slip library cards into... but it was made out of brown cardboard/kraft paper stuff, and the back/inside of the pocket was gold glitter. THEY'RE SO CUTE! And I just got engaged and am tooling around the internet looking at pinterest & getting ideas, and they'd work *really* well for a project I found.

Is there any way of asking whoever sent me the package what they are and where she got them? I've tried googling -- but to no avail!

    Thanks!
